Fall's A-Comin'

-Went to Traverse City for a conference last week. Here's Brian and Dave on the balcony of the hotel we stayed at.
-On our "field trip" we visited the sloop Welcome (once owned by MSHP).
-I got to climb on the ropes on the Madeline.
-Nice light.
-From the porthole.
-Me and Sandra in the Madeline. All these boats are learning tools.
-Grand Traverse Lighthouse from the tower looking over the fog signal building.
-An interior shot of the keeper's quarters.
-The lighthouse from the front.
-The just completed new Eyaawing Museum and Cultural Center, with the entrance on the east.

-A view of the downtown and bay.
-Dave, Brian and Steve up top.
-A little green frog that was climbing my house.
-Sandy, Jennifer, Brian and I went out in Petoskey - Mitchell St, City Park and then the Ozone.
-Very fun to send text messages to the giant screen.

I was Tagged

Liz at the Quilted Turtle got me for meme-- so here it goes.

First the rules:
Link back to the person who tagged you
Mention the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them
Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged.

So, here they are in no particular order:
1. I have a slight oral hygeine obsession. My sister chides me for asking for toothpaste, toothbrushes and mouthwash for Christmas. I was told to not brush as much by my dentist. I love my sonicare!

2. I think inanimate objects have feelings. Not really, but I feel they do. I recently heard that Andrew Stanton, of WALL*E, said animators do that a lot. It really seemed dolls, stuffed animals, etc. knew I played with one more than the other.

3. Water is my favorite drink. I really, really like it. It was my favorite from about 8 months old and on.

4. I love to go on process tours or watch things like that on tv. Like factories. The making of crayons on Mr. Rogers/Sesame Street was the best.

5. I can name (sing) all the countries in the world (circa 1992 from the Animaniacs), states and capitals and love geography and maps.

6. This is hard. Hmmmm...I love to read about presidents, visit their houses and love the trivia about them. TR's the best.

Sand River and Lake Superior

LeeAnn and I headed north to Canada (yay fruit bars!), past the Soo and up to Lake Superior Provincial Park (over an hour north of the Soo).

-LeeAnn and I ready to go on the ledge to see the pictographs.
-Misshepezhieu and a canoe made from red ochre.
-Another canoe. Many of these (the ones we can see) are 200 years old or up to 1500 years old.

-LeeAnn contemplating Lake Superior's waves on the ledge.
-There's the ledge we walk on and the cliff you look up at for the pictographs. Notice the spikes with the ropes on the ledge so you can lean back and look up the cliff.
-We took off our shoes for better traction on the rock. It was a bit choppy and we both ended up getting wet, me getting the brunt of Lake Superior "kissing" us with a wave.

-On to Sand River and the Pinguisibi trail. Amazing rapids and waterfalls at every turn.
-Someday...three hikers trek across the bridge on Hwy 17.

-A bitty fall that I stood in for awhile.
-And past the first set of rapids and waterfalls were more!
-...and more!
-On the Pinguisibi Trail to the side was an abundance of moss...and here some shamrocks and ferns.
-One last trip up Castle Rock in St. Ignace to see the island. And talk to some locquacious kids.

Labor Day Weekend

The weekend before Labor Day we all went out to see Soulstice at the Gatehouse!

-Katie and Peggy.

-Matt, the trumpet player from the band, hung out with us, too.

-The flowers at the Grand, at night.
-Carol and Mary came up to visit and walk the bridge. Instead of walking the bridge, I decide to bike at least 50 miles on the island. I got up to 60.07! A new high for a day.

-The sunrise the next day.
