Jamestown

Here we are...a new posting finally. We did a record setting trip from G.R. to Williamsburg (we drive like truck drivers, according to Mary!) in about 13 hours through rain, on the D.C. beltway and only stopped twice. Then on to the beginning of the USofA to Stephanie's new place of employment, Jamestown. Founded in 1607 and is celebrating it's 400th anniversary.


-Here's the entrance to the relatively new exhibit and HUGE entry-store-food service-classroom-office building. We stayed for a bit and saw some of the exhibit, watched the movie and all, but as it was 80 degrees outside and we had our very own personal tour guide, we wanted to go out there and see the site and ships!






-The interior of one of the houses in the Powhatan Village. Reed mats covering the exterior and a lot of room inside (I'm comparing it to the waginogan of northern Michigan, of course).

Very cool site. I think it was a little hot for us Michiganders. After some shopping (for those of us up in the north regions of no stores) and buying great books at Williamsburg!
