May Fun and Flowers

- Heading to the Post Cemetery for the Memorial Day (Decoration Day) Observance. The soldiers march from Fort Mackinac to the Post Cemetery, with the ladies following.

-The girls, Maria going to lay the wreath on Capt. Clitz's grave. The soldiers fire a salute after Phil gives a short talk. Short, sweet and meaningful.

- Back to Cheboygan for a bit...a flowering almond bush (thanks Mom).

-Bleeding hearts.

-Azealas!

-Orange and...

...yellow irises.

-With the mild temps, lilacs are a-bloomin'! From Marquette Park to the Arnold Line dock.

-French Lane.

-The best little garden on French Lane (even a teacup left on the chair).

-On my way past Wilderness State Park, some buttercups and Indian paintbrush. A car stopped and I got to help a German girl with her visiting father (she's an au pair in Detroit) get to 119, which is very tricky. So I talked to them and had them follow me to where they needed to go. I even got a "Guten Tag" in there. The rest of my German is irrelavent, silly things that are best left to friends and b-ball courts!

-Had lunch with Jenny at Legs Inn. The best new thing is that it finally got a historical marker in 2003...

...and the flip side is in Polish!

-A northern Michigan staple.

-Jenny with her lima bean soup (notice the butter). More pics on the food blog, linked to the right.
