Palm Sunday

-Heather and I decided to partake in the Palm Sunday procession into the Old City. We didn't the entire thing (from beyond the Mount of Olives), but caught up with it (perfect timing) near St. Stephen's Church. It was almost like a parade, with people lined up to watch...as we did. First were the flags, then the scouts.
-Then just hordes and hordes of people. Some with palms, some with olive branches.

-And I even found a group of Poles (see the red/white flags in the background)!

-And more people. Some palms were really elaborate. I think it must have been in the tens of thousands. We found the fun group (see you tube) and joined in.

-Then we headed up to the St. Stephen's (Lion's) Gate to the Old City.

-More dancing, singing and people lining the streets.
-Once into the city we followed the group into St. Anne's Church courtyards.

-There was Arabic music being blasted with loudspeakers (some unexpected) and a general joyful atmosphere. These people got a group dancing.

-We left and headed to the Austrian Hospice for desserts. Here's the great view of El-Wad street.

-Heather with the great desserts and fun "table" we had.
-The empty-now streets.
